Wedding Brand: Springtime Palette, Vintage Patterns & Country Garden Party
A TAYLOR-MADE BIG DAY
Nothing touches our hearts more than when a member of Team CBP ties the knot! After years of bringing clients’ dreams to life, our design director and watercolor wonder Taylor Crossland created her own invitation suite ahead of her country wedding to Don. Nuanced and nostalgic, elegant and ephemeral, this paper collection was trademark Taylor.
EVERYTHING OLD IS NEW (AND IMPROVED!) AGAIN
Taylor introduced an eclectic aesthetic straight out of the save the date gate. She drew inspiration from a variety of vintage sources – textiles, calling cards, handwritten letters – but put her own refreshing spin on them. Bright colors and hand drawn patterns contrasted without competing, while small but significant details cleverly tucked throughout the save still caught the eye.
Not only did Taylor personalize the paper to her and Don through elements like the custom crest containing all four family members’ initials, but she also catered each envelope to individual guests, curating specific stamps that reminded her of their loved ones.
THE TRADITIONAL TYPE
The cheerful tone she established with bold palette and patterning carried through to the invitation. But Taylor tempered the playfulness with a return to tradition. Formal letterpress typography and typesetting treatments, such as including “R.S.V.P.” in the lower lefthand corner of the main invite card, recalled classic invitation etiquette and underlined the sense of occasion.
All eyes were on Taylor’s big day when it graced the pages of the holy grail of wedding publications – the Martha Stewart Ultimate Planner issue! The three-page feature was met with rave reviews, and her suite continues to be fixture on our clients’ Pinterest boards today.
PARTY ANIMALS
For Taylor and Don, it was important their wedding was kid-friendly – both the human and the goat variety! On top of treating the tiniest attendees to party packs full of play eyeglasses, mini puzzles and colored pencils, these ultimate animal lovers transformed the family farmland into neverland complete with a petting zoo that encouraged everyone to embrace their inner child.
It wouldn’t be a TC party without custom illustrations! As an ode to an activity she enjoys doing with their kids, Taylor created a bespoke coloring book featuring vignettes that felt plucked from the wedding itself.
