Dewey and Kris

TYING THE KNOT IN TERREBONNE

For Dewey and Kris, the family’s Central Oregon ranch was the organic choice for their wedding venue. The larger mountain to climb? Creating a fresh aesthetic that honored both their deep-rooted connection to the land and their contemporary taste. Cheree Berry Paper & Design eagerly answered the call of this wild adventure and established a refined-rugged sensibility from the ground up.

NEUTRAL MEETS NATURAL

Our visual identity for D+K maintained a quiet luxury – understated rather than overly branded with an emphasis on high-quality materials and craftsmanship. The untamed beauty of the ranch shone brightly against the modern monochromatic palette of taupe, alabaster, soft white and platinum with variations in texture ensuring visual interest.

Without going logo-crazy, we made the couple’s initial monogram a signature throughout their wedding season. The symbol assumed even more meaning when it grew in tandem with their family. Roll it, adapt it and mark it with an “M” – that’s how we commemorate a new addition!

SNEAK PEAK

Shadows of the landscape came into view as early as our save the date. The pocket’s transparent pane bore a rendering of the Three Sisters mountain vista that would ultimately overlook the couple during “I do.” To enrich this vivid mental picture, we revealed the card’s pebbled leather backer for a terrain-like textural effect and a poignant quote from environmentalist David Brower.

The save the date card itself emulated the minimalist but bold fashion house invitations that appealed to bride Dewey. Modern typography and an abundance of negative space combined with the natural references in one wildly stunning piece.

STYLISTIC RANGE

The visual themes introduced in the save the date also characterized our wedding invitation design. Letterpress printing on double-ply stock, a foil- and heat-stamped velvet backer and stitched pebbled leather wrap reached the pinnacle of tonality and tactility. In addition to lending a couture quality to the suite, the stitching also served practical presentation purposes. The fabrication of inset pockets securely held the individual inserts, precisely die-cut, foil-stamped and stacked to mimic cascading peaks and ridgelines.

FEAST FOR THE EYES

The welcome party’s attire assignment may have been glam Americana, but the menu went international. To ensure each menu board captured the authentic flavor of the type of cuisine, we first built a typography moodboard that served as inspiration for the stylized typefaces featured on the floating wood panels. Add in our personalized food station names, and you had the most scrumptious signage.

TAKING DESIGN FROM DAY TO NIGHT

As the evening progressed and the horizon deepened from day to dusk, so too did the color palette, with decadent plum accents replacing dusty rose. Not only did our menus reflect this shade shift through their painted beveled edges and patterned pockets, but they also created a quiet harmony between design and décor through their curvilinear shape. Together with the arched band backdrop and serpentining tables, these rounded edges carved out a softness that meandered through the reception tent like the Deschutes River.

WHEN THE MOOD STRIKES

The celebration and corresponding visuals took a sultry turn when the after party’s neon lights sputtered to life. The contrast between dimly lit corners and pulsing color heightened the energetic yet intimate club atmosphere and awakened our branding’s darker, more dramatic alter-ego that only came out to play late at night.
