Dreams in Palm Springs
Project Overview
Jordan Ferney, founder of Color Factory and Oh Happy Day, feted her 40th with an unforgettable destination birthday bash with all of her besties. Working closely with planner Ashley Smith Events, we designed the distinctive visual vibe of the weekend, from an incomparable interactive invitation to singular day-of items that made three days of partying in Palm Springs extra special and especially memorable.
Attire Attachments
The invitation needed to be as creative and colorful as the birthday girl, which meant a hand-painted pink-and-white-striped mailer, an accordion fold format, whimsical calligraphy, a sunny yellow custom crest and a sheet of stickers stored in a vellum envelope! Guests could dress the sketch of Jordan (courtesy of her husband Paul) in her birthday suit with the stickers that modeled the suggested attire for the weekend – Jordan actually wore the bubblegum pink and blue gown that inspired the card’s cover and one of the stickers!
The Wit Factor
Jordan’s playful spirit shone through every piece of the party, particularly the day-of details, whose clever copy punctuated the fun-loving feel of the weekend.
Fun and Games
A game of who’s who featuring pics of Jordan’s friends filled the pages of the Ferney Turns Forty yearbook. Guests tried to guess the identity of each image, but the addition of a few famous faces (can you spy a young Zooey Deschanel or Channing Tatum?) fooled some partygoers.
Striking Stripes
A striped spectacle put smiles on everyone’s faces at Saturday night’s pajama party. Cocktail, late night and die-cut dinner menus, seating cards and custom wrapping paper that covered gifts for the guests incorporated Jordan’s favorite perky pattern and coordinated with the décor.
The Party that Never Sleeps
Jordan presented each guest with a personalized silk-screened pillowcase so that everyone could participate in a classic pajama party pastime – a pillow fight!
