Matty and Sam

Matty Carville and Sam Joel had been in each other’s orbits long before falling in love, but after a handful of almost-encounters and some divine intervention, their worlds finally collided. Deeply connected to their roots, this kismet couple wanted to bring the ragin’ Cajun spirit to the Shenandoah Valley for their big day on the family farm, and we helped make that fantastical vision a reality.

Personalized flourishes took flight throughout the pair’s stationery set. A save the date postcard series featuring Virginian vistas, flocks and fortunetelling foretold of a unique event that would be equal parts modern and metaphysical. The symbolic imagery and engaging formats continued in the invitation suite with an etched plexiglass plaque that slid into a transparent tarot card-inspired pocket. The decorative sleeve framed a pastoral sunset vignette complete with gold foil stamping, a custom crest and a cameo of the couple.

Rich cranberry-colored ceremony programs complemented the exuberantly elegant event design and the late autumnal landscape, which largely informed the couple’s color story. Subtle touches, such as delicate vellum pages and a familiar floral motif, kept the visuals cohesive and underscored the intentionality that defined Matty and Sam’s celebration.

Each day-of detail – the scavenger hunt for the kids, the fortunes clipped to cocktail glasses, the tarot card coasters – was quintessentially Matty and Sam. With the past, the present and the preternatural all intersecting at once, this Bayou-meets-the-Blue-Ridge-Mountains bash was a truly transcendent experience.
